Adaptive Leadership is CLA’s foundation, not a trend we adopted.
CLA grew out of the pioneering work of Ron Heifetz and Marty Linsky, who spent more than 30 years examining and teaching leadership at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. This pedigree matters because the problems leaders face have changed. Many of today’s challenges cannot be solved by expertise alone. They demand shifts in priorities, behaviors, roles, and relationships.
OUR History
Built for the long game of change
CLA was established to meet complexity head-on.
Founded in 2002, CLA became the firm where Adaptive Leadership tools and tactics were translated into practical work with leaders across sectors. In 2013, the firm was sold to the staff, reinforcing a simple principle: the work is bigger than any one person.
In April 2020, Cambridge Leadership Associates joined Nofsinger Group, expanding the platform and strengthening CLA’s ability to serve leaders facing high-stakes complexity across industries and life-cycle stages.
